First reported in the late 1930s and partly explained in 1970, the antibacterial activity of pectin remained almost ignored until the late 1990s. The concomitant emergence of research on natural antibacterials and new usages of pectin polysaccharides, including those in medicine widely researched in Russia, has led to a renaissance of research into the physiological properties of this uniquely versatile polysaccharide ubiquitous in plants and fruits. By collecting scattered information, this study provides an updated overview of the subtle factors affecting the behaviour of pectin as an antimicrobial. Less-degraded pectin extracted by acid-free routes, we argue in the conclusions, will soon find applications from new treatments for polymicrobial infections to use as an implantable biomaterial in tissue and bone engineering.  相似文献

Modern aerospace vehicles are expected to have non-conventional flight envelopes and then, in order to operate in uncertain environments, they must guarantee a high level of robustness and adaptability. A Neural Network (NN) controller, with real-time learning capability, can be used in applications with manned or unmanned aerial vehicles. In this paper a novel real-time control system, based on a NN model, in order to control the trajectories of a hexacopter is proposed. The proposed NN is optimized by the analytical calculation of the embedding parameters. The paper shows a performance evaluation, through a real experimental testbed, of the proposed approach in terms of error measures and computation of the angular velocities of the hexacopter.  相似文献

Optical and electrical properties of carbonaceous particles produced in laboratory scale, premixed ethylene/air flames are obtained. Light absorption and Raman spectroscopy show that the change in particle nanostructure follows a graphitization trajectory as the flame richness increases. The optical band gap decreases and the size of the aromatic network in the particle increases, while the interlayer spacing between parallel layers decreases. The electrical conductivity of the materials increases by increasing flame richness in agreement to the graphitization trajectory. A non-ohmic behavior has been found and explained in terms of electron tunneling in a percolative network. Our results show that the electrical properties of flame formed carbon nanoparticles are strongly dependent on their nanostructure, and hence they have to be used carefully for the determination of particle concentration with conductometric sensors. Moreover, the dependence of the electrical properties of combustion formed particles might be useful for the development of cheap sensors for the selective detection of different classes of combustion aerosols.  相似文献

Investigation was focused on the impact of high power ultrasound (HPUS), also called thermosonication, on the oxygen permeation properties (permeability, solubility and diffusion coefficients) of barrier films aimed for food packaging. For this purpose, biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) coated with acrylic/polyvinylidene chloride (BOPPAcPVDC) and biaxially oriented coextruded polypropylene (BOPPcoex) were used. The physical–chemical profile of the samples was determined using goniometry. There is a significant impact only of extreme HPUS conditions (the longest time and the highest amplitude) on the permeability, solubility and diffusion coefficients of oxygen through the BOPP films. The highest influence on the oxygen permeability in both investigated BOPP samples involved an HPUS with an amplitude of 100% during a 6 min treatment. However, BOPP samples showed different sensitivities at lower HPUS treatments. © 2017 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

This study evaluated the rheological behavior of Burkina Faso honey and the use of exponential and polynomial models to predict the influence of chemical composition and temperature on the viscoelastic parameters: complex viscosity (η*) and loss modulus (G’’). Samples were first characterized by evaluating: water activity, 5-hydroxy methyl furfural, sugars (fructose, glucose, and sucrose), electrical conductivity, moisture, and color. Dynamic rheological properties were obtained at different temperatures (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 40°C). All the honeys displayed Newtonian behavior. Complex viscosity and loss modulus can be predicted based on the chemical composition and temperature using polynomial models (R2 > 98.00%).  相似文献
